A couple of co-workers just bought new vehicles, although neither was a Saab. I was astounded at what they were told by the Dealers:

1. You will damage the engine if you change the oil before the on-board computer indicates an oil change is necessary. (Say what?)

2. Do not use premium gas, it will cause the engine to "Carbon Up" almost immediately. (Admittedly many engines do not require premium, but "carbon up"?)

3. The best interest rate from GMAC is 8% for 60 months if you take the Bonus Cash. The Insurance Salesperson masquerading as a Closing Agent (so the Dealership can legally sell Insurance Policies labeled as Extended Warrranties to new car purchasers) blamed the 8% rate on GM's Junk Bond status. (Not according to GM's Regional Incentive web page updated 12-6-2005, the best rate for 60 months is 4.9% months for the vehicle being purchased!)

All these came from a Chevy Dealership. The more things change the more they stay the same.
