Thanks, everyone, for the advice.
I opened it up yesterday, and I was surprised how well it was sealed. There was no water visible, so the gasket seemed to work quite well.
They are pretty difficult to pry open, too. That clip opposite the hole is way too stiff to get it open using a paper clip, I had to pry it apart with a small screwdriver.
I just left it on the dresser to dry out. I'll put it back together tomorrow afternoon.
Tried to find a new battery, but Radio Shack doesn't stock them. I ordered a 5-pack off of eBay for $6.49
