TML, perhaps you could point me towards a few of these informative articles? I did a few different Google searches & could only find non-technical sales sites of companies promoting window tinting. Aside from their enthusiastic ad copy, there wasn't much in the way of "information."
I did, however, find some "good" ad copy at the Sekurit Glass site. The link is below. But be aware that their products are integral to the glass they make, & not a cheap aftermarket add-on.
I also found some interesting discussions on the IR & UV transmissability of glass. I've included the addresses below, since I've already filled the one direct URL link with the Sekurit site.

P.S.,
I don't believe I made any claims regarding window tinting & night-time driving. Only regarding window tinting & safety in general. Although I do agree with the comments others have made regarding seeing through darkened windows in the absence of daylight. Oh, & I absolutely agree with the comments about trying to see THROUGH the darkened windows of other vehicles in order to tell what traffic is doing all around me.
