But it won't tell you if it's an SPG - there's nothing special in the VIN that would tell you that much about a specific car. It'll tell you what year it is, what engine it has, what body style it (but you know that already). The 5th character "L" isn't used in US-spec 900s.
There were a lot of 900 3-doors that had the SPG panels put on at the dealers. And others were ordered from the factory with them. I've seen white 900, non-turbo 3-doors with SPG panels, aero bumpers, and whale-tails from Canada.
But, don't dispair. A garden-variety 900T is nothing to sneeze at. And some people prefer the cloth seats.
