Verification of ID for a credit card is a joke anyway, especially in Home Depot and Lowes. I walked into Lowes one day and bought $30 worth of various home improvement supplies with my credit card and had to show my ID. When I asked why I was told "Oh, it's our store policy to check EVERY credit card transaction." A week later I walked into the same Lowes and bought a $1500 refrigerator with my credit card and they didn't even care to look at my ID. Since then I've been asked for my ID only about half the time, usually on low priced transactions under $100. Anyway, I got tired of pulling out my drivers license all the time, afraid I would loose it or drop it... So now the "ID" I show them when I get a stuck up cashier is my state issued work card which has my picture and name only (no signature, birthday, etc) and that seems to satisfy them. Funny because my state issued work card is for the next state over, not the state I live! Just goes to show if they bother to check an ID, they really aren't looking at it.
