Stangest computer problem I've ever heard Posted by turrbo [Email] (#8) [Profile/Gallery] (more from turrbo) on Mon, 11 Feb 2008 20:40:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Even a professional computer guy can't figure this one out.
My aunt's cable modem stopped working, so I (over the phone) told her to power cycle it (unplug for 30 seconds). She accidentally unplugged her CPU tower instead, which of course shut it off.
When she booted back up, her user profile was gone. Seems like the system reset itself somehow, as Firefox is gone, all Outlook settings were reset, all her Word docs are gone, desktop changed, etc. McAfee and ZoneAlarm are still there, though, which I can't figure out.
System restore just causes an error message to come up. It's a Gateway running Windows XP Home.
Any ideas? I've never heard of this one before...
