Download HWMonitor or Coretemp to check your actual temperature. HP did update some bios awhile back & accordingly changed the fan algorithms.
CPU should roughly get these Celsius temps:
Idle: 39-45
Medium Load (surfing net, chatting, listening to music): 45-55
Heavy Load (Gaming, video encoding,CPU intensive programs):55-68
Full CPU Load (CPU Load Stress test) 69-75
Your HDD should roughly get these temps:
Idle: 38-44
Load: 45-50
HWMonitor also records your Peak temperatures, which is the highest temperatures reached.
