We lived here while the crew did the work. Our living room is off the kitchen in one direction and the family room flows into the kitchen from the other direction. We basically moved into the living room (22x14)and set up a temp kitchen at one end with microwave, fridge, 2-burner hot plate, etc. The crew kept the sink operable the whole time. We used both paper plates and regular ones, depending on the meal. We had the oak floor redone in the family room at the same time, so it was one single project. We blocked doorways to the fam room/kitchen off with 6 mil plastic which kept the mess to a minimum in hallway and other rooms.
I recommend a mix of take out food, going out a bit more often and simpler meals for the duration of the project. Do some cooking on your grille, too. If I did it again I'd go out to eat more often.
