I was just informed today when taking my car in for service that Brewer's Saab in Maugansville, MD will be one of the dealers closing. Fitzgerald in Frederick, MD will also close, leaving my closest dealer at greater than an hour away. With two cars under warranty, I'm not the least bit pleased. Brewer's has been in business for over 40 years and has been my dealer of choice for 20. Why can't GM keep their mitts out of this? From what I understand, it doesn't cost GM anything to keep them open. There's no fancy showroom financed with corporate funds and once the dealer buys the cars, they're the dealer's responsibility.
BTW... Brewer's will remain open for non-warranty service and used auto sales.
