Excellent insight. Lots of good comments. Another few things Saab needs to do: 1) Emphasize the safty factor (they let Volvo steal it away). Lots of people want safe fun to drive cars to transport their kids. I live in NJ and I cannot even count the number of Volvo wagons and crossovers on the road here. 2) Cross overs - to many people wagons and suv's are not cool, so cross overs are a must. 3) Reliability - Volvo now has 5 years of warranty and maintenance including wear and tear (BMW has 4). This will restore faith in the brand since many people feel Saabs are money traps (not true, but that is the perception). 4) Technology - emphsize awsome and efficient turbo charged engines. 5) Style - the cars no longer stand out. Look what Audi did with their headlights and BMW with their lines.
Just the humble opinion of a 50+ yuppie with kids and a first time Saab owner.
