In other words, what could Saab build that would be so compelling that those of us who only buy used wouldn't be able to resist buying a new one? I mean lets face it, if WE won't buy one new, who will? For me I guess it would be a modern but retro rendition of the C900 using the Mini Cooper business model (which I suspect BMW has done very well with). If it was about the original size it would be relatively small by modern standrads (ie. a 9-1) and current power trains (2.0 turbo) would be fine. Price it under the 9-3 ($16-22K) with two/four door hatches and maybe a convertible for $26K. Retro cars do very well because they're a way to drive a relatively inexpensive car with a little panache--think New Beetle, PT Cruiser, etc. The Cooper has changed very little and yet demand has stay strong for more than a decade (and resale value is very impressive). The other thing would be to give me something I can't get in a used one, like a really great diesel along the lines of the TDI or BMW's new 3 series.
