Whenever someone mentions in an article that Saab used to mount the ignition switch on the floor, I wonder what they're thinking. It's either been on the console or the steering column since at least the 900 came out. I've not looked at a 99 to see if it had a console between the front seats which held the ignition switch. Anyway, my point is that nobody says "would you buy a car from a company whose entire engine line-up used to be air-cooled?" Or "how about a car from a company that used to not install seat belts in any of their offerings?" I think when people mention the ignition on the floor thing, which is a completely irrelevant point, they're just trying to be hip (I know some trivia about this car company), or they have no idea what is relevant in car design and construction. Probably the latter.
