OT: AC w/ battery Smoke Detector frustration Posted by Ken [Email] (#2113) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ken) on Wed, 10 Mar 2010 02:37:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had 2 FireX AC (with battery backup) smoke detectors installed and they would give ourt a tiny "chirp" every 10 minutes or so. (As opposed to the low battery chirp which is louder and every 30 seconds) They were 10 years old so i bought 2 new Kidde units. (model i12060)
I installed the new ones and darned if they aren't doing the same thing. I checked the brand new batteries for full charge, checked all wirenut connections (I heard a loose neutral will cause a chirp) and made sure no other load is on that circuit. Is there anyone here that is familiar with this issue?
Kidde said it's not their fault and their units can only give out the low-battery chirp so it must be wiring or circuit issue. Do I bail and get the battery-only units?
