Best American car I've driven in a long time ... (long)

I reserved a full size car from Enterprise to bring my daughter to camp, about 500 miles round-trip. The rental car office was packed on Saturday morning and rapidly running out of cars as I waited in line. It was at that point I noticed a bright red Dodge Ram 4-door pickup in the lot. I offered to take it, as long as it was the same rate as my reservation. The harried rental agent gladly agreed.
What a pleasant surprise this vehicle was. Very comfortable for my 6'3" frame ... quiet, smooth, powerful engine with a beautiful V8 growl when opened up ... independent rear suspension so it didn't sling sideways around bumpy turns the way every other pickup I've driven does.
My daughter was embarrassed at first, the proud environmentalist that she is. But as she climbed in, her attitude changed. Tastefully done interior, comfy seats, nice satellite sound system to listen to Radio Disney the entire ride up. Ugh.
This was the only vehicle besides my 9-5 Aero Wagon that I've been able to drive for over 4 hours without a break. No pain in the back or the backside, no leg cramps. It was probably the only rental car I've ever been a little sad to return.
I averaged 19.2 mpg, 95% highway.
I wish I had a need for a pickup, I've always thought they are cool and great fun to drive. If they ever design a fuel-efficient full-size pickup that's as good a driver as this Ram, I'm buying one.
