That was a lot of anger to release.
I can understand if you don't like features of the new 9-5, but Saab was not allowed to do all the things you are asking for when the 9-5 was developed while still a part of GM. Also, you may not like the reality, but if Saab had instead made the kind of retro-futuristic car you ask for, that would appeal to some, but not enough people to sell enough to make the now independent Saab profitable. They have stated they want to do something like that in the future, but RIGHT NOW they need to sell enough cars to keep the brand alive. Despite your opinion of the new 9-5, it has been getting positive early reviews and it, plus the 9-4X (which dealers say will sell like crazy), and the 9-3 (set to be updated for 2012) will allow Saab to get their sales numbers up so they can explore more future models where they will have more design control.
And as for the Epsilon II platform shared with the Buick you mention, the differences go MUCH deeper than just the body and interior bits. It has a different suspension, different engine and engine management software, etc. Have you driven both cars to see and feel the difference or are you just venting?
I get that you don't like GM, but how can you blame Saab for releasing what is ready while they were under GM's thumb so they can get to where they, and their customers want them to be?
There, now I feel better too.
