bulbs are important to check periodically, but you do a circle check with the car on before every drive? that is thorough! I'm mainly on the lookout for soft tires, strange puddles etc (before getting in)... also, in our case on the winter beater c900, loose trim (slush + ice seems to pull them away + the fasteners have mostly corroded)... never dragged one down the highway yet though!
