that's my vote.
GM provided stability + there were some great cars that came out that still have SAABness at the core. Viggen, 9-5 etc... even the 9-3ss, though I don't love the GM approach (no hatch available + how much can we style it like an A4), it has transformed into something quite SAABy over time, especially with the 2008 mce...
But GM did do stuff to the brand that hurt it (the badge engineering, the decontenting, and the limitations on technological advancement that were naturally coming out of Sweden)... there is no doubt GM could have done better!
If the company can achieve a level of financial stability, I think the best is yet to come. All the recent media hoopla is imho mainly that, even if there are underlying financial problems, I think there is an investor out there who can make this actually work. That it has been carved out of GM is the first big step. I have to say though, JAJ's retirement is concerning to me only in that he was a significant bright light. In my experience executives with characteristics I noted in him are few and far between. (Muller's enthusiasm is fantastic, but it takes much more than that to be a success!)
