Better check local zoning and neighborhood covenants Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 16 Jun 2011 03:29:55 In Reply to: Home office "shed", Shauno, Tue, 14 Jun 2011 11:04:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You may be surprised to find strict limmits on both allowable size (making it too small for your intended use) and required exterior design/materials. If your home is half-bricked any storage building on your lot may need to be half-bricked too.
That being said, I have a two story 10 x 12 carriage house in my back yard I built from a Popular Mechanics plan set back in the early 1980's. Fully permitted and progress inspected, but the final inspector still nearly freaked out when he saw it. Even more weird, my wife's college room-mate's father built the same shed at about the same time I did, but his was in central Indianna.
