I'm writing this contribution at the airport on my 11" Macbook Air. SInce I travel with it I figured that AppleCare was prudent. I also bought AppleCare plans for my MBPro and MacMini and my wife's iMac. Electronic failures tend to be negative exponentially dist'd (i.e., decay curve) with most failures early and few failures late in life. As most of us on TSN can attest, mechanical failures are more normally dist'd (e.g. C900 and 9000 harmonic balancers tend to separate roughly around 100k miles or 10 yrs).
