I don't buy new anyway, but if I was in the market, I have to admit (much as I love them) I'm not so sure I'd get a Saab. The depreciation hit alone is heart-stopping, but the paucity of dealers is downright scary.

I live in NH and near the largest city. And this is Saab country by any definition: you can't drive 10 miles without seeing at least a couple cars with a griffin on the hood. But there are now only two dealers. One a Saab-only (Thor only knows how he survives) and one a multi-line GM store). Both are 45 miles away, not remotely convenient. The local dealer closed over a year ago. My #1 indy is starting to service other makes to stay busy.

The Chinese deal may help globally once things get rolling, but I don't have a lot of confidence for Saab in the US. I'll still buy another, but it will be used and I'll hope I can get parts.

OTOH, dealers are not so much an issue as service. Licensing qualified indy shops to do warranty service would go a long way to restore some confidence. Adding dealers would do even more, even if they shared showrooms.
