and most are marked with big double yellow and sometimes triple yellow lines. so she's not going to get out of it by pleading oops. the fines for hov violations start at $371 and go up from there.
however, if she does go to court, she could request community service instead of having to pay the fine. it does take time, but it's usually counting how many cars go thru red lights, how many people on cell phones, that sort of thing.
and, there is always the chance the officer won't show up so out it goes completely. yes, sometimes the court will knock the fines back for appearing and pleading cases, but i think in this case it would be more a mea culpa please be lenient on me..
as far as the traffic school, again yes, it is more money, but if the reporting gods do happen to line up against her and ticket data gets shared, the $65.00 may seem cheap against raised insurance premiums?
sorry to hear she got a big time slap for it, but on the plus side you'll have funny stories for upcoming holiday and family gatherings!
