I've been keeping my father-in-law's Dell SSF based system running for a number of years now. Replaced the Caps on the mother boards a couple of times now, split due to heat build up. Also replaced entire mother boards, had to order them straight from Dell, or from another supplier that was selling parted out old Dell systems.
If your friends is truly an SSF then the only mother board that will fit will be one from Dell. Depending on the cost, taking into consideration the age of the computer and price of a new one, your likely better off getting a new one.
