I now use Vredestein Quatrac 3s on my VW Transporter Kombi all year round - last year when it snowed heavily (for the UK) I just parked my 9000, the Transporter was unstoppable and it has seats on the back so we used it for everything. These are SUV tyres and they have a proper snow rating (snowflake symbol etc). Wheels are 235/50-18 so they cost me £200 a corner but worth every penny
Even better were the Pirelli Scorpions which were on the VW when I bought it, but the available load rating was too low
I realise these may not be available, or quite the same spec, in the US
