I think I remember that thread from before re the nasty wallpaper (various options including scoring, steaming etc). How "textured" is it? I wonder (if it's very well adhered) if just applying new paper over would be easiest (with a quick sanding prior, to level the "texture"). I suppose it depends on your tastes also. We were lucky here in that in the wallpapered rooms, the outermost layers (yes 4+ layers) fell right off the wall with no work + the innermost came off with solution + scraper.
Do you have a lot of original trim? Is it painted or not? Any tearing of walls or drywalling will necessitate removal + reinstalling trim, which in principle is not difficult, but a little time consuming to do properly + end up looking original again, especially if blemishes cannot be hidden with paint. A super thin prybar + the right nail extractors helps (our original trim was installed with 3" finish nails). Anyway, I would take this into account also. Accurate replacement of damaged original trim can be astonishingly expensive + tearing the insides of a beautiful original old home + replacing with home depot junk (mdf trim, vinyl windows etc) wipes most of the character + value that was there originally... sadly there is a fair bit of that happening these days in the name of "new" and "efficient"...
good luck!
James...
