Insulation has minimum value in the determination of price for an historic house. TML's house is 125 years old (mine is "only 111") and there are very few "identical" 100+ year old houses for comparison. I have installed attic insulation, weatherstripping and storm windows in areas that I consider will have some economic payback during my stay at this house.
Some things I am torn about are doors. Practically any new door that I buy will have better insulation that what I now have, but nothing will look as good as for example my eight-foot tall, top/bottom divided 111 year-old pine kitchen door. I have added weatherstripping and a rubber threshold, but am not anxious to replace the entire door.
