That's really not accurate at all. VM had to know that GM was never going to just "give" technology away at fire sale prices. Why would they? That would be a stupid business decision. But VM really had no choice if he was to acquire Saab in the first place. He was either going to make it with the initial round of investment or fail spectacularly. There were so many obstacles in the way of success not the least of which was a lack of product in the channel. Even Stevie Wonder could see that it was never really gonna work.
