The internet connectivity is cool but if you have either zoning or a sophisticated HVAC system (multi-stage heat and/or air, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, variable speed fan, etc) it's not adequate. I believe they may be addressing some of these more advanced features in a new model but the original couldn't do most of it.
Personally, I'd rather be in charge of the scheduling and whatnot than hoping the thermostat can accurately figure it out. Sorta like driving stick instead of automatic.
FYI thermostats have been able to figure out temp change/time for a long time. Honeywells do it for figuring out when to start the "recovery" times (ie reaching a target temp at a specified time) and for multi-stage systems.
