Yes, the Saabs hold up very well against road salt. I also spray used motor oil against the under body and suspension parts just before the snow season (when I remember, which is every other year to every third year. LOL). The only thing I don't spray on is the exhaust system, lest burned oil smell. Well, guess what, the exhaust components (especially the flex coupling) are the only things that rust on my wagon after nearly 12 years. My driving pattern is quite rust inducing: once a week or so.
BTW, I may be wrong on this, smaller tire diameter with taller side walls results in a longer (but narrower) contact patch, and can bear the same vehicular weight at lower tire pressure. That combination doesn't do anything positive for dry road grip, but may help traction on snow/ice. BTW, the wagon ride quality is outstanding on 65-series tires. I have the convertible for tossing around the corners.
