need some job advice

Thought I would tap the Saabnet braintrust here...
I'm unemployed, laid off a long time ago. Two job opportunities have come up in the last two weeks.
Job #1: A friend works there and gave my resume to the manager. The manager emailed me a test that I completed and sent back. I scored perfect. I now have an interview in person on February 21st and my friend says they really like me so far. Chance of getting hired I would say is ~50%. The job pays 50k and is in the business unit of a national insurance chain. Basic office-type job but not the career I want to go into.
Job #2: I interviewed over the telephone one week ago with my would-be supervisor. She said she is interviewing 6-7 people on the phone, 4-5 in person, and 1-2 in a final third interview with the president of their orgnization. This job is in line with my Master's degree and thesis (finished this fall) and would be an amazing job (assistant director for a non-profit, three blocks from the White House), and I love what the organization does. Pay is similar to Job #1. The manager wants to set up the in-person interview in the first week of March (she is out of town). That's the problem...
Do I try to postpone the interview for Job #1? Or take that job, and still try to interview for Job #2, and quit Job #1 if I should get Job #2? My heart is really in what I did my Master's in, but with sequestration coming down the line in a few weeks, and having been out of work for so long, I really feel that I should take whatever job comes up first. My skillset is similar to what a lot of defense contractors do, and they will probably be flooding the job market soon.
Any words of advice?
Thanks,
Rob
