We're probably in a veritable golden age of cars. The current horsepower race puts even the best of the 60's to shame--Cobras, 427 Vettes? You can buy four door, comfortable, everyday drive-able sedans (and even wagons)that'll leave them for dead. Even economy cars have more horsepower than sports cars of not that long ago. It's also a golden age of small cars. There's at least a dozen small affordable sedans that have the room, performance and handling of the better European sport sedans of a decade ago. The cross-over segment manages to incorporate the virtues of a sport ute (and they do have some)in a package that has few of the drawbacks. Then there's hybrids, plug ins, fully electric cars, maybe not everyone's cup of tea but interesting none the less. Hell Fiats are back and Alfa is pretty likely to return. I think it's a fantastic time to be looking at new cars.
