basically someone broke into my 90 900s in the lot outside of my apartment at the time. they bent the frame of the window on the passenger side door enough to reach in and pull up the lock (after they tried to pund a screwdriver into the door lock and force it). they took the clarion aftermarket radio but left the screwdrivers they used to pull the radio out - cut the wiring harness and that was it; nothing else was missing.
i had the insurance company come and look things over - was progressive at the time - they esitmated for replacement radio, used door repainted to match, and new locking mechanism it was something north of $1500 or so at the time if i recall correctly. they cut me a check for the amount.
after further looking things over, i found the door bent back (it had basically hinged where the frame meets the door at the bottom of the window), the lock still worked even though the opening was a little bent, and i used the cash to buy a new radio, and the rest for some fun things.
progressive was great to work with - granted this was back in 2000 or so in the seattle area. so in my case there were no hassles or questions, only a review of the damgage and then payout. if you work directly with the company you should be fine. if you go through a repair facility, you may get more involved in them covering the actual cost of the repair.
