Our CT SAABERS of certain age may remember the Mianus River Bridge, where a 100 foot roadbed section of Interstate 95 in Greenwich fell 75 feet to the riverbed below, 3 killed. Structural failure of the link and pin system that allowed the span to flex.
I drove over the section around 6:00pm in the evening and returned on the other side (separate span as with the DE bridge) about four hours later. It fell about 1:30 am. The area side roads were tied up for months, 95 being the main corridor from NY to Boston.
My folks lived in Wilmington for many years and I know that bridge, that will take some work to correct. Wow.
