I would pass on a car that has so much paint work done unless I could see it with my own eyes. Paint work is hard to do correctly, and is expensive to do right. Furthermore, it's hard for someone to do paint work themselves, whereas, a clutch pressure plate can easily be taken care of.
I've been looking for a manual-shift Aero wagon for about 3-4 years now. My wife and I are on our second automatic (they're fine, but as you know, they're not the same...). I'm still looking!
Laser Red, with a manual though... I see your dilemma here!
I've heard the term "unicorn" to describe someone's white, '04 Aero Wagon with a stick shift. Holy Grail isn't far off!
Cheers, and all the best on the search.
