I could write a book about Saabs@Carlisle... 2014 was my fifth consecutive year attending Carlisle. I'm afraid I won't be making it for 2015, because I'm going to Sweden for the mothership Saab Festival in June.
I have always camped, and it's a blast. There are bathrooms and showers within walking distance of the camp ground, but I always drive up the road to the Petro truck station for my morning routine. They rent you a bathroom for $11 for an hour and it's like the Taj Mahal compared to what Carlisle provides. This past year we rented an ARR-VEE from Cruise America right up the road. The National Lampoons jokes were endless all weekend. That thing was fantastic; hot water, stove top, generator, refrigerator, TOILET. It was even cold enough one morning to turn on the propane heat in the thing! All for about $400 for the weekend. Split between a few of us it was pretty manageable. If you want anything that resembles a hotel, book NOW, if they even have anything available.
Make sure you register through The Saab Club of Central PA. They will advertise links for registration closer to the event. They put on the show and will supply all your meals. You have to pay for them in advance though when you register. Actually Friday night they supply a few industrial sized grills and condiments and you bring your own stuff to grill. It's a lot of fun; great way to meet new people. Now that I'm recounting my past years, I'm pretty bummed I'm not going this year.
