As possessor of a long and winding road of formal employment, unemployment, long-term free-agency, and a host of bosses (all memorable, but few good) ... I could go on for pages. But I won't.
Instead, your best move in my opinion is to take the money and run. The company is trying to give you a semi-honorable "out," and that's a good thing. And damn unusual. See if they can pay if out over a few weeks, but all in a lump is OK, too.
Don't count on any type of reference, and just be prepared to work around the departure issue when it comes up in interviews. Something like "it was a mutually agreed parting," saying that there wasn't the right alignment with your goals and those of the company, --blah-bah-blah. Just be professional, positive and forward-looking. Other companies are looking for skills and experience and they know that not every employee is a perfect match. And there are lots of reasons why people leave companies.
I don't know what field you're in, but once out the door and looking, you may find opportunities as a contract employee. These can be great (and lucrative). If you take one or more of these, you may find them to your liking. Free agency (self employment) is actually pretty good. Has some downsisdes, but then so does being an employee.
Right now you have a chance to try some different approaches. So go for it. LIfe is an open road and sometimes all you can do is put your foot on the gas and drive!
