Experience with Travertine Floor Tile? Posted by EGD [Email] (#663) [Profile/Gallery] (more from EGD) on Tue, 12 May 2015 11:08:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Looking for real world experience from the Saabnet braintrust on the use of travertine tile flooring in kitchens and hallways.
I want to take up the builder-grade porcelain tile in the kitchen and replace it with travertine. Same for a heavily-trafficked hallway to the bedrooms and in the laundry room -- replace carpet in the hall and porcelain tile in the laundry room with travertine.
Since it's a porous material, I know maintenance would be higher and its use in the kitchen may be a problem since it's susceptible to staining.
Anyway, looking for ideas, lessons learned, etc. Other materials? Limestone? Slate?
TIA!
