Cameras are mega-mass produced electronics with parts shared on multiple makes and models. And are not designed to be repaired.

Cars have parts like that, too!

I just had an auto focus zoom lens die on my old Nikon D50. The gear for the track for autofocus motor is not working. A replacement lens (used) is $60. The camera repair shop charges $55/hour plus parts. A used lens with more range was $160. So I just got the bigger lens. Does the job, and more, on an 8-10 year old camera.
