Just as a warning, the 9-3, volvo V-50 and jetta have very tight back seats. So depending on the car seat, if its rear facing, the front seat will have to be moved up quite a bit. I just went through this process of making sure the car seat would fit, replacing my 9-3 wagon.
I ended up leasing a new Acura TLX.
For wagons, its hard to find, but the Acura TSX Wagon is a nice car, not sure if manual is available.
Otherwise, I would be looking Passat or V-70 wagons to compare to your 9-5.
late model Suburu's are plentiful with stick shift. last gen BMW 3 series is another, just not sure if you want to consider the cost of ownership.
Good luck with the search.
I do really miss my 9-3 for the wagon and the stick shift. I'm pretty tall, so back seat room was very tight.
