Hi all, always see 'other subjects' posted here and I know that there are many qualified people speaking on an array of subjects, so here's my question.

When the storm was over in the NE we experienced a problem, water leaking down from a heating/air vent in our bedroom ceiling. Above this ceiling in an unfinished attic and then the roof. From what an inspector told me 'we have an ice dam'. He recommended that the ice and snow be cleared off the roof and allowed to dry. Said that would solve the problem.

Now our insurance company is coming out to inspect the damage and give us a check to fix the damages, paint work, etc. Carpeting, Draperies and some Decorative BedCoverings did get wet but are dry now.

The Bedcoverings and Draperies have some stains, the carpeting seems to be okay, but that's difficult to determine as the pad underneath the carpet could still be wet. Ceiling is also dry now. The inspector said that the dry wall will be as good as new - once it's completely dry.

Is this all I should be concerned about, does anything need to be done with the roof. Should the flashing be looked at?

The adjuster will be out tomorrow, Thursday.

Thanks so much,
Larry
