Don't worry about it, search for ACEA A3/B4 oils Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 9 Mar 2016 17:44:16 In Reply to: Mobil 1 Not Available for Saab Engines, Smoghead, Wed, 9 Mar 2016 17:09:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The GM-LL-A-025 spec is now obsolete as GM has moved on to a Dexos 1 and Dexos 2 specification for engine oils. Saab is obsolete as a manufacturer so there are no longer any company lubrication engineers to identify the proper current oil classification/specification for Saab engines. Dexos 1 and Dexos 2 specs exist only to generate licensing income for GM. Some of the first oils to wear these certifications came from decidedly strange origins, Turkey Hill is one that sticks in my mind.
Search out oils which meet ACEA A3/B4 specification for your Saab, a specification which is far more robust than any API spec. You will find that Mobil-1 0W/40 is ACEA A3/B4 certified.
If you truly want to continue using a 0W/30 weight oil then I recommend Total Quartz Energy 0W/30. It also is A3/B4 certified by ACEA. In the Detroit area I can find this oil at a specialty Import Car Parts chain.
