I used to fly a lot for my former company and had heavy metal privileges on three airlines so I would get upgraded to first or biz regularly.
Surveying the astonishing amount of trash left after each flight in those high class cabins, I spoke with flight attendants and they agreed that people seated in those classes had an aggressive sense of entitlement and that those who worked for the airline existed only to serve their every whim, even if they paid a coach price and were merely upgraded peasants like me.
One favorite moment on American was the first-class lout who berated the old school flight attendant because his choice of breakfast was no longer available and that he was limited to eating French toast or nothing. He told her in no uncertain terms that he paid for his ticket, was not some upgraded puke, and demanded that he receive the breakfast he wanted or he would personally call Bob Crandall, then the CEO of American. At that precise moment the airplane made a sharp dip from clear air turbulence and the OJ she was handing him ended up all over his face, shirt, and tie. I bet Bob got that phone call.
