Ten cents per mile to register my Viggen in Michigan Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 4 May 2017 14:09:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yikes!
A 17 year old Viggen convertible that originally cost ~$45K. Michigan directly links vehicle registration fees to the MSRP, annually reducing the percentage applied to MSRP for only the first five years.
My Viggen cost me less than $7K in 2013. I normally drive it 3K miles per year but this Spring has been so cold and wet (snow forecast for the weekend) that I may only be able to drive it 2,000 miles this year. I have already lost an entire month or more of driving season!
The $204 cost for registration divided by 2,000 miles of anticipated driving is 10 cents per mile!
It might be cheaper to rent a dump in another State to use as my car registration address.
