No coated, but lots of vinyl used on the seating surfaces Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 29 Jun 2017 03:22:03 In Reply to: is saab leather coated w/ a plastic coating ? what do you use ?, neil dale [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 28 Jun 2017 16:52:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Saab advertised their leather interiors as having leather seating surfaces. In reality, the leather seating surface is only the square "pan" of the seat that your butt sits on. Side bolsters, knee bolsters, and especially decorative contrasting colored darts may be vinyl.
I had the seat cover replaced on my wife's 2006 9-3 because the vinyl side bolster split through. I am having the seat cover on my 9-5 Aero repaired using salvaged authentic Saab vinyl (no matching leather available) because the vinyl darts split through.
