Thank you for the intro Scott.
A quick bit of history on Scott’s and my friendship and my history with SAABs. First I found this site about 20 years ago when looking into purchasing my first car. I had grown up around SAABs and my dad was a huge fan of them. He also owned a saab parts yard so I grew up playing with them on the weekend. When my dad brought home a 91 900 SE vert (one of his dream SAABs) when I was 14, I decided right there it would be my first car. And yes I still own it 17 years later and it only has about 60k miles on it. With that being said I began to live on saabnet.com. I learned a great deal and shared my knowledge, though basic at the time with the masses.
I became a member and Scott even sent me to the Detroit auto show for media days when the 2007 anniversary convertible was unveiled. This is a memory I hold near and dear to my heart. At the young age of 19 or 20 I was rubbing elbows with saab engineers and designers. Let’s not forget the wonderful spread of food saab laid out for us!
Many long time posters of saabnet may remember me as DREWZAIRFLOWSE.
My life has been quite the journey, between business and education I have always found a way to incorporate SAABs into my daily life. What can I say I am an addict!
Fast forward to about 4 years ago: I formed a company called AB SAAB Parts & Service. I serve as the strategic business partner and rarely am in the shop. The shop is located in Akron Ohio and I live in Columbus Ohio. This business opportunity fell into my lap as I was moving from Cleveland to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University. I knew this was only the beginning of my roll as a source of parts to preserve our beloved brand.
Around that time I had come up with the idea for ASAABForever.com. It was a side project while studying full time at OSU. Now many hours and headaches later I have phase one of the site done. We have a much different mission than other parts companies. We aren’t looking to make a fixed percentage on our parts, rather offer rare, new old stock, quality used, performance and new Oem parts to enthusiasts. With that being said our prices on discontinued rare parts are priced so those who are restoring their SAABs can purchase them and out of reach of those who are driving them into the ground. While this approach has stirred up a lot of emotions among the community we stand by this as when these parts are gone they are gone. They deserve to be placed in the hands of true enthusiasts.
We do offer new Oem parts as well straight from SAAB.
As a side note ASAABFOREVER.COM is not my full time job, thought it takes up a great deal of my time. I am a full time law student pursuing my JD at Capital University in Columbus Ohio. So if it takes a while for me to answer an email it is likely because I have locked myself in the library or have gone blind from reading case law. In stock orders do ship out same day before noon EST typically and our Akron warehouse promptly ships used parts.
We have an eBay store and our website. Keep in mind the website does not have our full inventory or is complete. I have only made it through phase 1 of the design. In my free time I will continue to build the site and add inventory. Don’t fret as you can still search by part number and request a part and if it is in stock we will email you promptly.
I want to thank Scott again for the chance to talk about my little project that has become a monstrous brand.
