Wow, this generated lots of interest - exactly what I was hoping for. I've never driven a Boxster; perhaps it's time to correct that. A bit of online shopping seemed to suggest that the vintage I'd want would be out of budget, and the older ones tend to be high mileage - I guess their owners actually drive them :)
Both Porsche and BMW scare me a little in the operating cost department. But even at a few grand a year, that's less than car payments on something new.
The Jeep? Seems unlikely, but as they don't charge for test drives, WTF? I'll give it a shot. You never know.
The little Mercedes had caught my eye, but some of the online reviews suggested the engine was suboptimal. Maybe I should hunt one down, drive it, and make up my own mind.
My wife just got a Mini. Hers didn't have enough pedals, but I drove one that did. Nice, but just not me. I think the bug would be the same.
Shopping is great fun, but the more I do the more it reminds me of just how wonderful my SAAB is.
