I founded the non-profit, Poverty2Prosperity.org, in 2008 to make zero percent interest loans to the working poor around the world. I wanted to share our #GivingTuesday campaign which focuses on getting more loans to USA borrowers!
Over the last seven days, the United States has had more than 2X as many deaths from COVID-19 as any other country. Compared to India, which has 4X the population of the United States (1.366 billion vs 328 million), the United States has 3X the death rate. Overall, India has managed a death rate per million of under 100 while the United States, sadly, is losing 800 people per million. This is why our #GivingTuesday campaign this year will focus right here at home in the United States. We would like to provide more zero percent interest loans to people suffering in the United States. Earlier this year, we were able to give significant support to those in the United States including one borrower in our home town (for the first time). You can read more about Valeria below.
For those that don't know, Poverty2Prosperity.org was founded in 2008 to make zero percent interest loans around the world. Over our 12+ years, we have managed a 99.45% repayment rate with over 97% of donations going directly into making loans. We are a 100% volunteer organization with no salaries and we keep our overhead as low as possible. We have a number of different funds including those for Education, Women Entrepreneurs, Personal Housing, Single Parents, and Youth (24 and under).
"Valeria is a single mother with two daughters, 19 and 10 years old living in the San Francisco Bay Area, and has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 emergency which has put her job on hold. Valeria is experienced in event planning and has job opportunities with a local event production company as soon as work picks up in the area again. She also has years of experience as a nanny and can provide childcare."
