Thanks -- actually, I had vortex generators up where the holes for the stock spoiler were, then found out that I could not install those in my particular class, so they came off prior to tech inspection. Being a Ford GT guy, and my current crew chief worked next to Phil Remington, we looked at the hatch window of a Saab 900 with yarn taped on, no spoilers, and there was laminar flow. The smaller lower spoiler was allowable in the altered class, so I installed it there to make a low pressure area as close to the back as possible to try to accelerate the air out from under the car, thereby pulling the body down. Traction is an issue on the salt, it resembles driving on hard packed snow. It also adds to kicking up the air just ahead of the parachute mount, to get it to feed the drogue, pulling out the rest of the chute. That helps prevent it just dumping on the ground upon release, and then getting sucked back under the car when you decel on shutdown.

Having said the above, I would really like to try a whaletail, and actually have one, but would have to cut an inch off it even after the rubber edge is removed, and to me that would be blasphemy on one that was in good enough shape to put on a car.

I've been hunting for a whaletail that is busted in the rear, or the rubber extension is missing so I can procure something that isn't so dang expensive, as it has to be hacked off, destroying any possible use for a whaletail OE car application. I know there is one out there, I just haven't found it yet. Or, I should say, it hasn't found me........
