when I bought my viggen 12 years ago we both banked at wells Fargo
so we set up a temp escrow acct the bank charged nothing !

I knew they were rare so I IMMEDIATELY OFFERED a $1,000 deposit ( refundable ) and committed to buy the car IF a PPI ( pre purchase inspection,) showed the car OK.
NOTE CAR BUYERS ! this locks up/ out the car fr other buyers ! important !

I had him take it to a local mechanic who knew saab .
I paid the mechanic $100 for a good PPI, leakdown and compression ck etc and test drive .
he said the car was 9.9 of 10 ! CA car & NO RUST !
it was being sold by original owner w/ 40 K miles !

I arranged transport (open truck ) fr CA to AZ
NOTE the car transport industry is an unregulated minefield ripe w/ rip offs !
brokers take deposit , their profit and try to get you to agree to a realistic fee .
however, they may be shysters and low ball you to get you to sign w/ them . then they put the job out on a internet bulletin board where drivers can accept the job ( or not )
IF the drivers think it is not enough $ they will not take the job
then the broker will call you and say you need to pay more ONCE you agree to a price you cannot go lower ! only higher the broker OWNS you !
so if you have time , start out w/a lower price
the driver gets the balance of the cost minus the deposit you paid the broker and you have to typically pay him in cash ( and if it gets there nicely and about on time give him nice tip ! $50-100 the truckers are usually hard working and self employed )

IT is VERY rare for a broker to work for a company that also owns trucks
believe it or not they get a full truck load in one area and often drop off the cars in a similar small area even way across the country !
drivers can be a problem too . sometimes they unload cars and take them for joy ride !

my car i found out someone took out the near new die hard and swapped it for a near dead old one .

so for payment ? i had the balance of $ owed in the temp escrow acct and when the title , signed and notarized was given to the transport driver and the car was loaded on his truck i called the bank and released the $ ! before the driver left , the former owner got a call fr the bank and they assured him the $ was now in his acct ! so do that !
