I just got scammed by a seller in a way that EBay basically refused to help me with: the seller essentially sent me an empty, previously opened envelope. I bought a seat heater element. When the package came, it was one of those thin, light cardboard envelopes (suitable for mailing only a business letter). I don't frankly think the part could even have fit into it at all. It had been opened and then resealed using brown packing tape.

Ebay said that, because there was "proof of delivery", I was not entitled to a refund. I asked the seller to exercise the insurance option (it was a $50 purchase), but got radio silence. Reading over their feedback, three things stood out: 1) lousy communication, 2) lateness, and 3) poor packaging. I've really gotta start reading the feedback before I buy - $50 lesson learned.

Apparently you can sell empty envelopes for $50 on Ebay.
