I just wanted to pass along an experience as a warning to others looking for a used Saab. Last weekend I went to check out a 1990 900 base model ($2500) that was advertised on the Autotrader web site. The car is advertised as being in "excellent" condition with 108,000 miles. I e-mailed the owner to express my interest and to see if the vehicle was still available. The owner replied that I could have this "flawless" Vehicle for $2000. I later had a phone conversation with this person who said he was selling the car for a "relative". I drove 2.5 hours to Soth Neptune Florida to find a beat up vehicle with a broken light lens, headlight and missing drivers side mirror. The body paint did not match the color of the trunk and it was leaking oil. On the test drive I discovered that the car had 108,000 miles on a broken odometer and the owner (who wouldn't let me drive the car without coming along) refused to answer any questions regarding estimated mileage. I felt the clutch slipping and when we returned to his house I wanted to pop off the cover for the clutch plate to inspect the thickness of the disk. He grabbed the screw driver I was going to use from my hand and told me "get the hell out of here, I'm not selling this car to you!" So please stay away from this car!!
